It’s grilling season in Minnesota – yay! My family loves grilled foods, but with our busy schedules, we rarely have time to put together a flavorful, home-grilled meal. And for some reason, marinating has always seemed too time-consuming to me, so I’ve usually grilled burgers and other meats without doing anything with them other than shaping the meat and heating it up on the grill.
I know – how boring, right?
Then I was given the opportunity to review Urban Accents DryGlazes, which are an incredibly simple way to glaze your meat. You simply rub some oil on your meat, put it in a sealable plastic bag, add the DryGlaze and shake it up. Then you let it sit for 30 minutes and the dry mixture of spices with the oil melts into a glaze. When you grill it, it caramelizes for a sweet and savory result. There are seven varieties to choose from.
Urban Accents sent me some samples so I gave them a try.
First I oiled the meat with olive oil, then put them in a baggie (here’s the chicken and some of the steaks).
Then I added the dryglaze mix. I tried the Mandarin Ginger DryGlaze on chicken kabobs and pork chops, and Vermont Grill DryGlaze on steak.
After letting the meat marinate for 30 minutes, I heated up the grill and started sizzling! The meat smelled incredible – like I was in a steakhouse restaurant. It was sweet and made me so hungry!
All the meat turned out GREAT. Everything marinated so nicely and the meat was juicy and sweet. All of the DryGlazes, including the ones I tried, are so versatile and complement various kinds of meat from chicken to shrimp to beef.
I was also sent some Corn on the Cob Shakers to try out. There are two varieties: Chili Lime and Chipotle Parmesan. I tried them both on my corn on the cob and wow, the flavors really complimented the fresh corn. They had a little bit of a kick but I thought it was just right.
Thor loved his chicken kabob!
