If you haven’t made it to a Minnesota Twins game yet this summer, consider this your sign to pick a date!
We’ve been to several games this summer, and every time we go, there’s something different that makes the day fun. It’s not just about watching baseball — there’s the atmosphere, the food, the music, the special events, the kids’ activities and all of those little moments that make a trip to Target Field feel like an experience.
Here are 7 reasons I think a Twins game is worth adding to your summer plans.

1. Sunday Kids Days Are So Much Fun for Families
If you’re looking for a game that’s especially geared toward families, check out Sunday Kids Days at Target Field.
We went to a couple of them this summer and had such a fun time. There was interactive entertainment, music and activities throughout the ballpark — and, of course, FREE ICE CREAM for kids! You can find this at select concession stands. When we went you could pick either an ice cream sandwich or fruit popsicle.

And if your kids aren’t huge baseball fans yet, there’s still plenty to keep them entertained.
Check the Twins’ schedule for upcoming Sunday Kids Days and other family-friendly promotions.
2. There’s More to Do Than Just Watch Baseball
One of my favorite things about taking our family to Target Field is that there are so many little things happening around the ballpark.
There’s the music, the scoreboard entertainment, the food, the views of Minneapolis, the mascots and plenty of opportunities to get up and explore.

There’s even a kids play area where younger fans can burn off some energy. Plus, face painting!
And, of course, there’s Bullseye! 🐶
We got to see him during our recent visit and definitely had to get some pictures.

For kids, those kinds of moments can be just as memorable as what happens on the field.
3. You Never Know Who You’ll Meet
One of the highlights of our most recent visit was getting to meet Sue Nelson, the Twins’ organist!

If you’ve been to Target Field, you’ve probably heard Sue playing during a game, so it was really fun to meet her in person.
All you have to do is go up to the 5th floor Terrace Level behind Home Plate. She’s in the Pryes Homeplate Taproom. Families were getting their picture taken with her and chatting with her between her playing moments.
And honestly, that’s part of what I love about going to games. You can plan the outing, but you never quite know what little moments you’ll end up remembering afterward.
4. You Don’t Have to Spend a Fortune
As you probably know, I’m always looking for ways to make family outings more affordable, so I love finding the deals and promotions that can make a Twins game easier on the budget.

6. The Sensory Suite Makes the Ballpark More Accessible
One of the things I really appreciate about Target Field is the UnitedHealthcare Sensory Suite, which provides a quieter space for fans who may need a break from the sights and sounds of the ballpark.
We checked it out during one of our visits, and it was really impressive. The suite includes:
- Individual quiet rooms with soft bean bags and calming lights
- Sensory toys and activities
- An outdoor viewing area where you can still watch the game
- Sensory kits for fans who may benefit from them
And an important thing to know: the Sensory Suite is free to all fans with a game ticket. It’s not an additional ticket or package you have to purchase.
My stepson has Down syndrome and is sensitive to loud sounds, so I especially appreciate having an option like this available at the ballpark. It can make a busy environment feel much more manageable for families who need a quieter space during the game.
I wrote a whole post about our experience with the Target Field Sensory Suite, including what we found inside and what families should know before they go. Read it here.

7. It’s Just a Really Fun Minnesota Summer Experience
There are so many things competing for our attention during a Minnesota summer. We have lakes, parks, festivals, free events, camping, day trips and approximately a million other things we’re trying to squeeze into the few short months of summer.
But I think there’s something really special about setting aside a few hours to just go enjoy a baseball game together.
Walk into Target Field. Grab some food. Listen to the organ. Cheer with the crowd. Watch the kids get excited when they see Bullseye. Take a ridiculous number of pictures. And just enjoy being together.
We’ve had some really fun Twins days this summer, and I’m looking forward to making more memories there.
Ready to Go?
There are still plenty of games left this summer, so pick a date and make a day of it!
