When most people think about attending a Minnesota Twins game, they probably picture baseball, ballpark food, and a fun summer day in Minneapolis.
What they may not realize is that Target Field is also home to one of the most thoughtful family resources I’ve seen at a major sporting venue: the UnitedHealthcare Sensory Suite!
We recently attended a Minnesota Twins Kids Day game, and while we enjoyed the baseball, free ice cream, and family-friendly atmosphere, the sensory suite ended up being one of the highlights of our visit.

As a stepparent of a child with sensory sensitivities, I know that loud crowds, unexpected noises, and busy environments can sometimes make outings more challenging. That’s why I was excited to check out the sensory suite with my family —and honestly, I was impressed.
What is the UnitedHealthcare Sensory Suite?
The UnitedHealthcare Sensory Suite is a dedicated sensory-friendly space inside Target Field designed for fans – both kids and adults – who may benefit from a calmer environment during games.
It’s located on the 3rd floor down a hallway, where plenty of volunteers are available to help and guide you (there are even volunteers on the elevators!).

The suite is available to fans attending the game and provides a comfortable place to take a break if the stadium becomes overwhelming.
What we found inside:
- 2 individual quiet rooms with soft bean bags and adjustable calming lights
- Sensory toys and activities
- A viewing area where guests can still watch the game
- Sensory kits available for use
- Trained volunteers

The space felt welcoming, peaceful, and thoughtfully designed. Instead of needing to leave the ballpark entirely when things become overwhelming, families have a place where they can regroup and then continue enjoying the game.

For many families, that can make the difference between a stressful outing and a successful one.
Our Visit During Kids Day
We attended a Sunday Kids Day game, which is one of the Twins’ most family-friendly game experiences.
The atmosphere was fun from the moment we arrived. Kids Day includes special family-focused activities and one of my kids’ favorite perks: free ice cream for children! The free ice cream was provided by Target and available at select places from carts – your child(ren) could get a free ice cream sandwich or popsicle!

This particular game we attended also featured Disney & Pixar-themed entertainment throughout the stadium, with familiar music and fun touches that kept kids engaged even when they weren’t focused on the action on the field. For example, each of the players were highlighted on the big screen as a Toy Story “character!”

One thing I appreciated was that there truly seemed to be something for everyone – during this game, there was a costumed race, babies featured in the audience to the music of “The Lion King,” and fun swag thrown into the crowd. Whether your child is a huge baseball fan or simply enjoys being part of the excitement, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the experience.
And knowing the sensory suite was available gave us additional peace of mind throughout the game.

Some of this season’s themed games include:

These special events add another layer of fun and give families different reasons to visit throughout the summer.
Why the Sensory Suite Matters
The sensory suite is what made this experience stand out for me.
Family outings aren’t always one-size-fits-all. Some children need movement. Some need quieter spaces. Some need breaks from large crowds and loud environments.
Having a dedicated space that acknowledges those needs sends a powerful message: everyone is welcome here!
As parents, we’re always looking for places where our kids can be successful. The UnitedHealthcare Sensory Suite helps make that possible for many families who might otherwise hesitate to attend a game.
