The Book of Life Halloween Carnival at the Mall of America this Saturday, October 4th

bookoflifeThis Saturday, October 4th, bring the family to THE BOOK OF LIFE Halloween Carnival from 12pm-2pm at the Mall of America!

The Sears Court will host a carnival-like event with themed arts & crafts, photo opportunities, free face painting, as well as samples of Doc Popcorn’s BOOK OF LIFE flavors and Cantina 1’s Churros! Hot Topic will be present with costumes and new BOOK OF LIFE apparel and there will be pumpkin ring toss for prizes such as advance screening passes to see the film before it opens in theaters!

THE BOOK OF LIFE opens in theatres nationwide on Friday, October 17, 2014.

Afton Apple Orchard in Hastings, MN

Our family visited Afton Apple Orchard in Hastings, MN with some friends a couple of weeks ago and we had so much fun! It was our first time here so everything was new for us.

Where is Afton Apple Orchard?

Afton Apple Orchard is about 30 minutes southeast of the Twin Cities. It’s on 190+ acres with 13 varieties of apples, plus strawberries, raspberries and pumpkins. At the entrance there are sampling stations where you can try the various apples available that day, plus apple cider and other treats. We tried a few and loved the cider so much we bought some to take home.

I highly recommend tasting the apple varieties when you arrive so you know which kinds you want to pick later. [Read more…]

2014 Minneapolis Emergency Prepare Fair Tuesday, September 23 & Tips for Disaster Preparedness

Most of us are often so busy we hardly think about things like preparing for natural disasters (aren’t there enough little disasters to deal with every day?). However, it’s important to learn what to do in the event of a disaster so your family is always prepared!

This Tuesday, September 23rd, take your kids to the 2014 Emergency Prepare Fair in Minneapolis from 10:00am – 2:00pm. It’s located at the IDS Crystal Court — City Center — Nicollet Mall Between 6th & 10th Streets. There will be tons of emergency vehicles to explore along Nicollet Mall including:
