The Starbucks Iced Apple Crisp Oatmilk Shaken Espresso is a popular option on their fall menu, and here is a copycat recipe you can make at home!
Starbucks has had a variety of apple + coffee drinks in the past few years.
In 2021 they introduced their Apple Crisp Macchiato which is made of a mix of apple, brown sugar, their Blonde espresso, steamed milk and a caramelized spiced apple drizzle. It’s made with actual apples, plus cinnamon and nutmeg spices. It is like an apple pie in a coffee drink!
Then in 2022 Starbucks introduced the Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato, their first non-dairy autumn beverage. The creaminess of the oatmilk and the warmth of the apple and cinnamon make it a smooth, comforting drink.
And now, in 2023, the newest apple drink is their Apple Crisp Oatmilk Shaken Expresso!
The Starbucks Apple Crisp Oatmilk Shaken Expresso is a delicious blend of real apples, cinnamon, brown sugar, oatmilk and expresso. It’s perfect for you if you want to feel like you’re drinking fall in a cup, but you don’t like pumpkin. It’s one of several shaken expressos you can get at Starbucks.
And what I like about it is that it has fewer calories than their other apple drinks. For a grande size, it’s only 180 calories, versus 320 for an Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato and 300 for an Apple Crisp Macchiato.
Of course, a big reason for that is all the ice. And honestly, I get a bit annoyed when I order a drink that’s $5 or more but half of it is just ice.
That’s one of the reasons I’m excited to introduce this recipe you can easily make at home! You can control how much ice goes in it. If you like a lot, at least you’re not spending several dollars for that. And if you don’t like a lot of ice, just use less. (This recipe shows a lot of ice but you can use however much you like.)
Also, you can adjust the recipe to make it healthier or lighter if you wish. For example, you can use less sugar, or mix the brown sugar with stevia to save on calories. The flavor won’t be the same, but you can adjust to your liking.
Ingredients
- Espresso – 1 cup (Starbucks uses their Blonde Expresso for this drink but you can use any)
- Brown sugar – 3 tbsp
- Apple – 1
- Oatmilk – 3\4 cup
- Water – 3 tbsp
- Pinch of cinnamon
- Ice – 1 cup (or less if you prefer)
Comments/Tips:
To save money, I like to get my ingredients at ALDI. ALDI has everything but the Starbucks Expresso, but you can use their dark roast coffee too.
I love ALDI’s oatmilk. I also like Target’s brand and get it when I’m there.
I have a Nespresso machine which I love. That’s the easiest way to get high quality expresso, in my opinion. They have Starbucks Blonde Expresso pods too.
Check out all the Starbucks Blonde Expresso items you can get on Amazon.com.
Instructions
Slice the apples thinly (no need to peel), then place them in a small saucepan. Add the brown sugar.
Add cinnamon and water.
Cook for 6-8 minutes. (Be sure not to cook too long.)
Strain the apples. Now you have a sauce.
Fill the glass with ice. Again, use however much you like. This glass is full but you can just use a little, too.
Add the prepared espresso.
Add the sauce.
Add the milk.
Serve!
I recommend stirring as the sauce can pool at the bottom.
Enjoy!
