I’m a picky fast food eater. I typically only eat fast food that’s healthful and nutritious, not processed or greasy. I like to feel good after I eat, especially after eating lunch at work so I can stay productive for the rest of the day!
So when I found out about Arby’s new Grand Turkey Club and Grand Turkey & Ham Club sandwiches, and that Arby’s was footing the bill for me to try them and write what I think about them, I thought, sure, I’ll try those! Plus, they also have a new Salted Caramel Shake with whipped cream and Hawaiian sea salt, which sounded like a yummy treat for a special day, so I tried that, too.
I first tried the Grand Turkey Club sandwich, which is served on a toasted wheat bun with sliced roasted turkey, melted Swiss cheese, thick pepper bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayo. It smelled soooo good in the car as I drove back to work to enjoy it and then as I took pictures before my first bite. It was warm and the turkey was surprisingly really juicy. (I heard they actually slice the meat in the restaurant.) There was a good amount of mayo and perfectly melted cheese, too.
I loved it, especially as a meal with a side salad and milk. Completely healthful! And I felt good and productive the rest of the afternoon at work!
Another day I picked up the Grand Turkey & Ham Club sandwich. I’m not a big fan of ham so I was hesitant, but I actually was impressed with how juicy the ham was, too, and how well it all tasted together. Being more of a turkey fan than a ham fan didn’t really affect my liking of it, and I’d actually get either sandwich in the future because I thought they were equally as good.
Finally, I tried the Salted Caramel shake. It was a sunny and hot day outside so I thought it was a good day for a cool treat!
Let me just say there’s a reason they call the shake “decadent.” It was the most indulgent shake I’ve tasted in long time! The whipped cream melted pretty quickly because it was so hot outside (so I took the pictures quickly in my car!) but I definitely enjoyed it. The pink Hawaiian sea salt was unique – by itself the salt is pretty bitter but somehow complements the shake very well.
I couldn’t finish the shake – it was so big! That would be my only suggestion for Arby’s – to offer a smaller-sized portion of the shake for smaller appetites like mine. (However, the next time we get one I’ll be sure my family’s around to share it with!)
