From Van Gogh to Encanto…..Lighthouse ArtSpace in Minneapolis will welcome the iconic characters from Disney Animation’s canon of films from current hits of today like Encanto, Zootopia and Frozen, to all of the classics including The Lion King, Peter Pan and Pinocchio. Audiences will feel like they’ve entered the incredible worlds of beloved Disney characters and become one with them.
The creative team for the Disney Animation: Immersive Experience is led by Oscar®-winning producer J. Miles Dale (Best Picture 2018 -The Shape of Water) who said, “Trailblazing in a new medium is always exciting, and this is truly going to be the most challenging and rewarding project of my career.
Being entrusted with Disney’s rich archive of animation is a great honor, but also a tremendous responsibility. With such a wealth of material and a treasure trove of memorable characters, it will be a thrill to bring the work of all the great Disney animators and performers to life in a 360-degree immersive environment.” Mexico City-based Cocolab is working with Dale and the Creative Legacy team at Walt Disney Animation Studios to develop the program for Lighthouse Immersive Studios. Special Projects Producer Dorothy McKim (Oscar-nominated, Get A Horse!) is spearheading the project for Disney Animation.
Disney on Ice presents “Find Your Hero” is at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul from December 8-11, 2022.

Our family has always enjoyed Disney-Pixar movies, and for sure all the “Toy Story” movies. The most recent Toy Story movie, Toy Story 4, came out in 2019, and I reviewed it here. Those all are a must-see, in my opinion.
After having seen all of those movies, I knew I had to see the new movie “Lightyear.” I saw it at an advance screening with my kids and we really enjoyed it. I thought it was a movie for kids and adults alike, with everything a Pixar movie does well.
“Lightyear” is all about Buzz Lightyear, the popular space toy character from all the Toy Story movies. It’s a prequel to the series, as it’s the movie that Andy saw as a kid, which is why he and other kids had the popular Lightyear action figure toy.
Lightyear is edge-of-your-seat fun, nonstop humor, touching moments, and characters discovering the amazing things they can do.
Is there someone who LOVES Disney princesses in your family?
Oh my gosh – we are huge Disney princess fans in our family. My daughter especially grew up absolutely loving all the Disney Princesses. She was also dressing up like a Disney princess, going from one “favorite” princess to another. At one point her favorite was Merida from “Brave.” Then it was the Little Mermaid. Then it was, of course, Elsa and Anna from “Frozen.”
She’s outgrown dressing up like a princess, but she still absolutely loves Disney princesses and all the movies as they come out including “Frozen 2.” As does our whole family!
And I am super excited about this…

Have you seen the Disney movie ENCANTO?
Encanto came out in theatres in November 2021 and was on Disney+ already the next month. My kids kept asking to see it because all their friends were raving about it, so our family finally saw it in January. And I have to admit – I was impressed! It took me a little while to get into it, but by halfway I was hooked. It really is a magical movie with memorable music (did I just use that many m’s?) and the song “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” has been a HUGE hit.
Bruno is a member of the Madrigal family, who live together in the Casa Casita. All of the Madrigal family members (except one) have a special “gift” – and Bruno’s gift is the ability to see the future.

Releasing on Nov. 24, 2021, the film features all-new songs by Emmy®, GRAMMY® and Tony Award® winner Lin-Manuel Miranda (“Hamilton,” “Moana”) and is directed by Byron Howard (“Zootopia,” “Tangled”) and Jared Bush (co-director “Zootopia”), co-directed by Charise Castro Smith (writer “The Death of Eva Sofia Valdez”), and produced by Clark Spencer and Yvett Merino; Bush and Castro Smith are screenwriters on the film.
