You may have heard in the news or from ads about many Target stores now adding a “Fresh Grocery” section. (Not the SuperTarget stores – these are already abundantly supplied with fresh grocery!)  I visited our local Target store and bought a few items. They were promoting the new development with a flyer we received in the mail that included a coupon for a free dozen eggs, so with my frugal, get-anything-I-can-get-fairly-for-free mindset, I used it right away.

It was nice but nothing spectacular…this Target store had carried aisles of grocery items already like cereals, soups and frozen items including waffles. But now they had a few aisles with the fresh grocery items you probably run out of every few days like we do in our household – milk, cheese, yogurt, fresh meats including limited quantities of ground beef and chicken breasts, fresh fruits and veggies (some cut-up for convenience), fresh bakery items, and more. The fresh grocery plus other, “pantry and freezer” grocery aisles from before, plus a few more added freezer-item aisles, went along one entire side/width of the store (probably totaling about a dozen or more aisles).

There is a Walmart store just around the corner from this Target that we go to regularly, but I have to admit, I AM more inclined to go to this Target now. Though SuperTarget is fortunately on my way home from work, if I’m in the area of this other Target store, I will likely visit more often. The prices were good – competitive for sure – and the grocery selection certainly better than what Walmart offered. For one thing – I like to buy Kemps Select hormone-free milk, which this Target carried, but Walmart only carries their own “Great Value” brand of milk which only SAYS that their “farmers pledge not to use growth hormones in their milk.” I prefer the Kemps Select milk that guarantees this.

So I would recommend visiting these newly remodeled Target stores – especially now while the promotional coupons are out there.
