Did you know that there are different things on sale each month of the year?
A while back I put together a Month to Month Shopping Guide that lists the best items to buy each month to save money!
Here I am highlighting the best items to buy this month!
What to Buy in April
Easter clearance! Easter falls on April 5th this year, so shop clearance starting April 6th.
It’s Springtime! Look for sales on cleaning supplies and vacuums.
Plus it’s National Car Care Month! Look for car care specials at auto parts stores and service centers.
It’s the best time to shop at thrift stores, as people are spring-cleaning and donating loads of clothes, furniture and home goods
There are often kids consignment sales in April as families clear out the old and shop for “new” spring and summer items too!
For example, check out the Just Between Friends Kids Consignment Sale in Andover from April 9-12
Rummage Sales begin!
Digital cameras go on sale as families plan travel over spring break & summer.
Snow Removal Equipment goes on sale.
Gardening supplies go on sale too. Look for plants and seeds on sale, too.
Earth Day is on April 22nd. Watch for environmentally-friendly, sustainable products, and even freebies!
Some dates to note:
April 1st is National Walking Day. Walking is a great workout!
April 2nd is National Burrito Day. Look for burrito deals!
April 4th is National Handmade Day. Make something like this sloth craft:
April 7th is National No Housework Day. Take a break!
April 7th is also National Beer Day.
April 8th is National Zoo Lovers Day. What’s your favorite zoo? Go visit one! The Como Zoo in St. Paul is free, and the Minnesota Zoo has farm babies opening up soon.

April 9th is National Unicorn Day.
April 10th is National Farm Animals Day.
April 11th is National Submarine Day. Have you seen a submarine?
April 12th is National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day. Look for grilled cheese deals!
April 14th is National Dolphin Day! We loved watching dolphins while we dined at Lulu’s in Gulf Shores, Alabama!
April 15th is when taxes are due. Watch for freebies!
April 15th is also National Laundry Day!
The third Wednesday in April (April 15) is National Banana Day. Make homemade banana ice cream with this awesome Yonanas machine! Read my review. We love ours!
April 18th is National Exercise Day. Sign up for my favorite exercise streaming service – Get Healthy U TV! Get a year for only $1.49!
April 19th is National North Dakota Day. Check out my guide to fun in Bismarck!
April 22nd is Earth Day. Watch for many fun outdoor events!
April 24th is National Bucket List Day. What’s on your bucket list?
The fourth Thursday in April is National Teach Children to Save Day. Teach your kids to save money!
The last Saturday in April is Independent Bookstore Day. Support a local bookstore!
April 26th is National South Dakota Day. Have you been there?
April 26th is also National Pretzel Day. We loved Jojo’s Pretzels in Shipshewana, Indiana!
Seasonal produce on sale now:
Artichokes
Asparagus
Broccoli
Cauliflower
Leeks
Lettuce
Mushrooms
Pineapples
Radishes
Rhubarb
Spring peas.
What NOT to Buy this month:
- Appliances – try to wait until Memorial Day sales if you can for the best deals.
- Mattresses – same as appliances. Wait for Memorial Day sales if you can.
- Tech – TVs, computers, and other techy items will go on sale this summer around the Fourth of July and after for back-to-school.
