Our family visited several parks this week, and discovered a NEW park – Assembly Union Park in the Highland Bridge neighborhood of St. Paul!
This park is awesome. It has:
- a large play area with futuristic play structures and a tall climbing fort with slides
- basketball court
- picnic tables
- 3 pickleball courts
- dog relief area
- benches
- bike racks
When I did some research, I learned it is the third of four city parks to open on the former site of the Ford Motor Company’s Twin Cities Assembly Plant in St. Paul.
And the name is explained in one article: “The name Assembly Union Park recognizes the site’s industrial history and the Ford Motor Company workforce as contributing members of the surrounding communities.”
It’s in the Highland Bridge neighborhood, which is along the beautiful Mississippi River. There are shops and homes around the park, and it’s beautiful to walk at night.
There are actually many projects in development including 3 other parks, 2 of which are completed which have a skate trail, a dog park, and more.
The play structures are fascinating. I wish they existed when I was a kid! Families loved playing on these.
I’m not quite sure if these are supposed to be molecules or robots or what but they are pretty cool.
There’s plenty to play on and climb on.
And there’s a merry-go-round!
Check out this park, Assembly Union Park, at:

Parking is a little tricky but we found a parking spot on the street by the park. Those spots are limited so you may have to walk a little bit.
