I like to take my kids to the Minneapolis Farmers Market and Farmers Market Annex regularly in the summer. We love all the fresh produce, flowers, meats, as well as the wide variety of handmade and other unique items for sale.
A regular “must” for me when we first arrive is a fresh bratwurst and lemonade from the Untiedt’s hot dogs and brats stand ($8 for both). Their bratwurst is sooo hearty and good and the lemonade is the BEST lemonade I’ve found anywhere. I just wish they sold a bigger size!
The employees are super hard-working and get you your food fast! Untiedt’s also sells a lot of produce at the Farmers Market including Minnesota Grown.
Of course, my kids are always on the lookout for the clown who makes balloons. His name is “Chik’n Wing” and today he was a funny, juggling baby. He posed for this picture for me.
Chik’n Wing does birthday parties and other events so if you need a fun clown check out his business card here:
My kids loved their animal-shaped balloons and many other kids came by to get their own balloons, too.
We then picked up some mini donuts and shared them as we walked around, enjoying all the vendor booths at both the Minneapolis Farmers Market and the Farmers Market Annex. We also looked at the beautiful fountains designed by Tonka Bay Fountains.
Of course there’s SO much more to see. If you’ve been to the Market you may have noticed Man Cave Meats, a Minnesota based “purveyor of craft meats.” Try a sample of their delicious brats including their Lake Brat made with beer, bacon and cheese. Other man-friendly varieties include Pizza and Bacon Cheeseburger brats. A package of four brats is $7.00 and can also be found in Lund’s & Byerly’s stores.
We came during the last hour of the Market so some vendors had run out of some of their items, but many offer discounts for what they have left. The last hour is the best time to get a deal as most farmers don’t want to bring all their produce back home with them! We left with an abundance of produce including fruit from licensed resellers.
What do you love at the Minnesota Farmers Market & Farmers Market Annex?
Thank you for this. I was trying to figure out a kid friendly market and now I have!
