Cirque Italia’s Water Circus Metropolis is coming to Maplewood Mall September 4–7, 2026, bringing an international cast of circus performers, a giant traveling big-top tent, and something you definitely don’t see at your everyday circus: a 35,000-gallon water stage!
The show will be set up at Maplewood Mall, 3001 White Bear Avenue North in Maplewood, making this a convenient option for families in Maplewood, the east metro, and surrounding communities.
What Is Cirque Italia’s Water Circus?
Cirque Italia is a traveling circus production that moves from city to city, bringing its big-top experience along with it. The Water Circus Metropolis production combines traditional circus artistry with a custom-designed water stage.
According to Cirque Italia, performers from around the world take the stage with acts including aerial performances, hand balancing, contortion, and other specialty circus acts. The water itself becomes part of the spectacle, with the enormous stage holding approximately 35,000 gallons of water.
So this isn’t just a circus under a tent — it’s a circus with a giant aquatic twist!
The current Water Circus tour is making its way through Minnesota and the surrounding region, with stops in St. Cloud, Saint Paul, Eau Claire, and Mankato.
When Is the Maplewood Show?
The Maplewood Mall engagement runs Friday, September 4th through Monday, September 7th, 2026.
There are several performances throughout the weekend:
- Friday, September 4th: 7:30 p.m.
- Saturday, September 5th: 1:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m., and 7:30 p.m.
- Sunday, September 6th: 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
- Monday, September 7th: 7:30 p.m.
That gives families quite a few options, whether you’re looking for a Saturday afternoon outing, a Sunday activity, or an evening show.
Ticket Prices
Ticket prices currently range from $15 to $65, depending on seating level and whether the ticket is for an adult or child.

A Different Kind of Circus Experience
The big draw here is obviously the water stage. Cirque Italia describes the production as an aquatic spectacular, with the custom stage traveling from city to city along with the show.
Add in aerialists, acrobats, contortionists, hand balancing, and other specialty performers, and it sounds like a fun change of pace from the usual weekend activities.
And because it’s a limited-time engagement, you don’t have to wait for Cirque Italia to come back around next year — this particular Maplewood-area run is only here September 4–7.
Make a Weekend of It
With Labor Day falling on Monday, the timing is pretty convenient for a family outing. You could catch one of the Saturday or Sunday afternoon performances, or make the evening show part of a night out.
