Summer is officially kicking off in a BIG way at Minnesota Children’s Museum, and families are invited to join the celebration at Monster Party on Saturday, June 6th from 10:00am – 3:00pm!
This special event celebrates the museum’s brand-new exhibit, Monsters on Vacation, and trust me—this is not your average beach vacation.

Be Among the First to Explore Monsters on Vacation
Making its world premiere right here in St. Paul, Monsters on Vacation is an original exhibit designed and developed by Minnesota Children’s Museum before it heads out to children’s museums across the country.
The exhibit invites kids to spend a day at the beach with a cast of friendly monsters, creating endless opportunities for imaginative play, movement, and creativity.
What You’ll Find Inside the Exhibit
👹 Feed the Tree Monsters
Help satisfy hungry monster appetites by sending foam fruit up a chute into the treetops. Just be ready—the fruit might come tumbling back down!
🐟 Monster Obstacle Course
Enter through a giant monster fish jaw and navigate a series of playful obstacles as you journey through the creature’s belly.
🏖️ Lifeguard Station
Future doctors and caregivers can help treat monster bumps and bruises, examine monster x-rays, and care for their monster friends.
💃 Underwater Dance Floor
Mix and match monster costume pieces, then dance your heart out on an interactive LED dance floor.
😱 The Scream Booth
A sound-reduced space where kids can let out a monster-sized scream in a safe, playful environment.
🐙 Octo-Tot Spot
Designed especially for little monsters under age 3, this area offers age-appropriate opportunities to crawl, climb, and explore.
Beyond all the fun, the exhibit is thoughtfully designed to help children practice important social-emotional skills, including recognizing, expressing, and managing big emotions through play.

Don’t Miss Monster Party on June 6th
The celebration goes beyond the exhibit itself. During Monster Party, families can enjoy:
- A monster dance party
- Monster-themed story time with Queer Puppet Collective
- Monster puppet-making activities
- Special monster-themed fun throughout the museum
- First access to explore Monsters on Vacation
It’s the perfect excuse to spend a summer day at one of the Twin Cities’ favorite family destinations.
A Summer Full of Monster Fun
Monster Party is just the beginning.
Throughout June and July, Minnesota Children’s Museum will host additional monster-themed events, including:
- Monster Spa Day on July 18
- Monster Yoga on select Friday mornings
All monster events are included with museum admission or membership, making it easy to keep the summer fun going.
Why We Love Minnesota Children’s Museum
One of the things I appreciate most about Minnesota Children’s Museum is how every exhibit encourages kids to learn through play. Since reopening after its major renovation and expansion in 2017, the museum has become a destination where children can climb, build, experiment, create, and explore across three floors of hands-on experiences.
With 11 interactive exhibit spaces and ever-changing special exhibits, there’s always something new to discover.
