If you have a train lover in the family (or just a curious kid who loves hands-on fun), Train Days at Union Depot in St. Paul is a can’t-miss event—and this year is extra special because it’s part of Union Depot’s 100th Anniversary Celebration!
Train Days rolls into town Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7, 2026, and it’s completely FREE for families to enjoy.
I’ve been to Train Days several times with my own kiddos, and it’s always been a huge hit.

What to Expect This Year
Train Days is packed with fun for all ages. Think giant model train displays that wow even the adults, a marketplace full of train-themed toys and memorabilia, food trucks, and plenty of hands-on activities for kids.
The Kids Activity Zone will feature:
- Crafts and coloring stations
- A bounce house
- Sidewalk chalk art
- A DJ dance zone
Bring lots of energy—your kids will be moving non-stop!

Historic Trains, Tours & Centennial Fun
One of the highlights of Train Days is getting up close to real trains. Guests will be able to climb aboard and tour historic rail cars and locomotives (specific train details are still being announced).
You’ll also have the chance to:
- Take a free historic tour of Union Depot led by CynCity Tours
- Explore the newly renovated Historic Stair Museum
- Shop special-edition Union Depot Centennial merchandise
We did the historic tour one year and it was so interesting!!! DEFINITELY do the tours if you can.
New This Year: Train Days Music Fest
To celebrate Union Depot’s centennial year, Train Days is adding something brand new—the inaugural Train Days Music Fest!
The free, all-ages concert kicks off at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, on Union Depot’s South Lawn. Local artists will be announced closer to the event, making this a fun way to extend your Train Days adventure into the evening.
Eats & Shops
Plan to spend some time exploring Union Depot’s local businesses while you’re there. Grab a bite at 1881 Eating House, pick up a train-themed treasure at Choo Choo Bob’s Train Store, browse books at Story Line Books, or stop in at the Coffee Station and Lowertown Bike Shop.

It’s a great opportunity to support local businesses while making a day of it.
