Kids Skate Free is a nationwide membership program that partners with skating centers to give kids 2 Roller Skating Passes every week of the year for super cheap. It used to be free but now they charge $5.99 a year per child. But that’s all you pay – $5.99 a year for each child and your child gets 2 free passes to skate each week, all year long.
Last year it was $5 per family so the price did go up but it’s still a good deal if your kids like to skate.
To sign up your kids, you just search for a local participating skating center on the Kids Skate Free website, view details and sign up! At this time, there are 2 participating local rinks in Minnesota (though many more nationwide):
Coon Rapids Cheap Skate 3075 Coon Rapids Blvd Coon Rapids, Minnesota 55433 Passes valid for children 17 years old and younger. Rentals extra.
St. Cloud Skatin’ Place 3302 Southway Drive St. Cloud, Minnesota 56301 Passes valid for children 10 years old and younger. Rentals are $4 plus tax.
We’ve been to Cheap Skate and it’s a lot of fun! They have a rink with lights and music, and an arcade.

A few things to note:
Each rink has its own rules and hours for free skating. For example, at Cheap Skate, free skating is for ages 17 and under, and only on Tuesdays from 5:00 – 7:30pm and Wednesdays from 5:00 – 7:30pm. At the Skatin’ Place, passes are for ages 10 and under, and on Tuesdays 5:00 – 8:00pm and 5:00 – 8:00pm, and Wednesdays 12:00 – 4:00pm. ALSO – you’ll have to download an app called MyHownd to access your free tickets.
Check it out and sign up your kids for free skating fun year-round!
