We Tried TotDogs (Now at Target!) — Here’s How It Went
I’m at Target a lot—usually at least once a week (sometimes more), especially since I end up grabbing a good portion of our groceries there. This is because I save a lot of money there with Target Circle, my RedCard, plus coupons, and they have a great selection for my family. I also love trying new products when I spot them, so when I heard TotDogs were now at Target, I was really curious to check them out.

(This post is in partnership with TotDogs, who compensated me and provided the product for us to try—and I was genuinely excited to check them out once I saw they’re now at Target. All opinions are 100% mine.)
If you haven’t seen them yet, TotDogs are a fun twist on a classic—hot dogs wrapped in a crispy, golden tater tot coating. It’s the kind of idea that immediately made me curious. They come in Original and Chili Cheese— and yes, I grabbed both flavors to try!

A quick, easy option for real life
One of the first things I noticed is how simple they are to make—which, on busy days, makes a big difference.
- Air fryer: about 8 minutes
- Oven: about 12 minutes
I made one box each way just to see, and both turned out crispy on the outside and ready in minutes. No prep, no hassle—just straight from the freezer to done.

The real test: kid-approved?
Trying new foods in our house can go a lot of different ways, but I had a feeling these might be a good fit for my stepson—he already loves hot dogs and tater tots.

He took a bite, paused for a second (you know that moment where you’re waiting to see what they think), and then reached for another one with a smile. That reaction pretty much said it all—he ended up finishing the whole plate!
Everyone else in our family who enjoys hot dogs gave them a try too—and were pleasantly surprised.
My husband and I both tried them, and honestly, we liked them. I personally preferred the original, while he was a fan of the chili cheese.
A fun twist on a classic
What I like about TotDogs is that they take something familiar and make it feel a little more fun. You still get that comfort-food vibe, just with a different texture and a unique twist.
I haven’t really seen anything quite like these in the freezer aisle before.
They also feel like an easy option to keep on hand for:
- quick snacks
- busy afternoons
- simple, no-stress meals
- kids’ parties
Frugal-friendly?
I compared these to similar products, and they’re pretty much the same price as corn dogs and corn dog bites (in the $9–10 per box range).
When you break it down, the cost per serving is really comparable to other freezer staples. For me, the convenience is a big part of the value too—having something ready in under 10 minutes makes busy days a lot easier.
They also have about 8 grams of protein per serving (and less than 2g of total sugars per serving!), which makes them feel a little more filling for a quick snack.
You’re also getting something a little different from the usual frozen options, which makes it feel like a fun switch-up without spending more.
And if you’re already shopping at Target like I am, that helps too. I’ve had the RedCard for years (I use the debit version), and it takes 5% off your purchases, so it’s a simple way I save a little on things we’re already buying.
Final thoughts
This ended up being one of those easy, low-effort wins—quick to make, fun to eat, and something I can see us keeping in the freezer for those “what can I make fast?” moments.
If you’re curious to try them, you can find TotDogs in the freezer section at Target by the corn dogs —which makes them an easy add to a regular Target run.
