My husband and I married in 2023 and chose to have our honeymoon in Gulf Shores, Alabama the following winter.
We had heard about it from friends who had visited there and it sounded like a hidden gem – with palm trees, white sand beaches, and unique things to see and do. After visiting we could see that is all of that and more! We had the most amazing visit and I shared 6 reasons Gulf Shores is the perfect honeymoon destination here.

But one of the very best things about our honeymoon was where we stayed. We knew we wanted something quiet, comfortable, and right on the beach—and our condo in Gulf Shores, Alabama exceeded every expectation.
We spent 4 days and 3 nights in a beautiful, privately owned, gulf-front condo, and honestly, it felt like our own little slice of paradise. Gulf Shores and nearby Orange Beach have more than 18,000 accommodation units to choose from (yes, 18,000!), many of them offering full kitchens, washers and dryers, and private balconies facing the gulf. We were spoiled for choice—but thanks to the assistance of Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Tourism, we couldn’t have stayed in a better place.

Our Honeymoon Condo
Our condo was located at Surfside Shores, a pair of gulf-front buildings that offer vacation rentals along with two pools, a hot tub, and direct beach access. We stayed in a 2-bedroom, 2-bath condo that could comfortably sleep six people, which meant we had plenty of space to truly spread out and relax. For a honeymoon, that extra room made it feel luxurious without being overwhelming.
But the real showstopper? The view.

We had a private balcony with uninterrupted views of the Gulf of Mexico, accessible from both the living room and our bedroom. Waking up to the sight of the water and ending each day watching the sun reflect off the waves felt incredibly special. My husband’s favorite part was the sound of the ocean—we fell asleep to waves crashing at night and woke up to them in the morning. It was soothing, romantic, and exactly what we needed after the whirlwind of wedding planning and adjusting to stepfamily life.

The condo itself had everything we could possibly need. The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, cookware, and even cleaning supplies, making it easy to cook meals if we wanted to stay in. There were three TVs with satellite channels, along with books and games. One of my favorite memories was Marc teaching me how to play poker using a Texas Hold’em set that was already there—it was such a simple thing, but it made the space feel personal and cozy.

What we loved most was that the condo allowed us to truly disconnect. We felt like we were getting away from it all, without sacrificing comfort or convenience. If we had wanted to spend the entire honeymoon there—cooking, relaxing, listening to the ocean, and never leaving—we absolutely could have.
While we stayed here for our honeymoon, the spacious two-bedroom layout and full amenities would make this condo just as perfect for families or small groups.

We highly recommend booking a stay at this condo if you’re planning a trip to Gulf Shores, whether it’s for a honeymoon, anniversary, family trip, or just a relaxing beach getaway. You can learn more about it here, and trust me—it’s worth it.
Our condo wasn’t just a place to sleep; it was a huge part of what made our honeymoon so memorable.
Price
The price was reasonable for such a huge space – only $149 to $399 a night. We visited in January when the price was lowest – and Minnesota temps are the lowest, too! Win-win! Note: The water was too cold in January to swim in but it was still a wonderful sunny escape.
