Super Neon at Mall of America: A Dreamy New Experience for Families
This week, my teens and I had the chance to check out the media preview of Super Neon, Mall of America’s newest attraction. It officially opened to the public today (September 26, 2025), and it’s described as a glowing, mood-boosting world designed to spark joy and creativity.

About Super Neon
Super Neon is part of a pair of new global attractions created by Merlin Magic Making (the team behind LEGOLAND, SEA LIFE, and some of the world’s most creative theme park rides) in partnership with Fever, the global live entertainment platform. Chicago got WONDRA—a dreamy, nature-inspired experience—last week, and now we in the Twin Cities get our own neon wonderland!

What to Expect Inside Super Neon
The attraction takes up more than 11,700 square feet on level 3 of Mall of America and leads visitors through a series of themed, light-filled rooms. Each one is designed to feel like you’re stepping into a dream.
Room by Room Highlights
Each space in Super Neon has its own vibe, and the best way to enjoy them is to take your time. Here’s a peek at what you’ll find:
Glowstorm Umbrella Room – Umbrellas dangle from above while shifting lights create the feeling of walking through a colorful rain shower.

Touch-and-Glow Forest – Tall trees light up at your touch, sending glowing pulses up the trunks and across the branches.
Retro Play Zone – A game-inspired space with puzzles, games, and a nod to old-school, classic fun, all drenched in neon.

Cute Characters – A variety of cute characters make silly sounds in one of the rooms. I call them “Quibbles.” It just sounds appropriate for them!

Dream Room – Here you’ll find a big moon and clouds and swings to sit on!

Make a Firework – In the last room you can create your own firework that appears on the ceiling.
At first, my teens and I walked through pretty quickly, excited to see what was in the next room, but here’s the best advice I can give: slow down. This isn’t an attraction you just zip through — it’s one to linger in. Swing a little longer. Let the lights and music wash over you. Touch the installations. Notice the small details. The magic is in letting yourself play and soak it all in!
Why Super Neon Is Unique
Super Neon isn’t just a photo-op — it was designed in less than a year as part of Merlin’s push to create immersive experiences that reflect current trends. While WONDRA in Chicago connects visitors to nature through interactive flowers, meadows, and sky clouds, Super Neon leans into the global fascination with light and color. As the creative team behind it shared: light has a mood-boosting effect, and this attraction is meant to leave you feeling energized and uplifted.
For families, it’s a fun way to break up a Mall of America visit with something interactive, colorful, and different from rides or shopping.
My Honest Thoughts and Tips?
So overall this is a fun, creative attraction. It feels magical and immersive. There isn’t as much to do as I expected – there are games and creative, interactive activities, but it feels like something you want to walk through fast. That’s what we did but that’s why I recommend going slowly. And it’s pretty dark throughout, so photo opportunities are limited. But it’s fun for anyone who could use a happy, glowing break from reality!
