The New Superman Movie Soars Higher Than Ever – Spoiler-Free Review
This week our family saw an advance screening of the new Superman movie, and we’re still blown away by the experience! Officially in theatres on July 11th, this new Superman movie isn’t just another superhero movie—it’s a fresh take on the Man of Steel that delivers action, heart, and plenty of surprises.
If you’re on the fence about seeing it, here’s why this reboot deserves a spot at the top of your must-watch list.
So What’s the Deal?
It’s a reboot (don’t worry, no spoilers here!), so it’s still Superman saving the day, but with new twists, new challenges, and of course—Lex Luthor. And it’s set in modern times, which was a bit amusing because yes, even superheroes have to deal with smartphones and social media now.
Superman isn’t the only superhero in this movie – he’s joined by Mr. Terrific (Edi Gathegi), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), and Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion), a very average but supportive crew.
And this Superman has a DOG! Kids will love this – especially Superman’s fierce protection of his dog. His dog “Krypto” is as entertaining as a dog can be.
Action, Laughs, and ALL the Feels
This movie has it all—action, humor, and plenty of jaw-dropping moments, plus some sweet, emotional scenes. The romance between Clark Kent/Superman and Lois Lane is there (yes, there’s smooching), plus we see Superman’s longing for his parents. The story was surprising at times – you’ll be frustrated for Superman but curious how things will all play out.
See It Big or Go Home
We saw it in IMAX at AMC Southdale and wow… the sound and visuals were incredible. But honestly, even if you see it at your local theatre, it’s still going to be an awesome experience. This is definitely a movie made for the big screen.
Parental Guide
I saw it with teens – I think it’s ideal for teens and older. The movie is PG-13 for violence, action and language. There were more strong words than necessary (as is the case with many movies), so be prepared for that if you are bringing kids. I personally don’t recommend it for younger kids for the intensity and language, mostly, but parents will want to decide this for themselves.
Bottom Line
Whether you’re a Superman superfan or just looking for a fun summer movie for the family, this one hits the spot. I’d 100% see it again. Grab your popcorn, make it a night out, and enjoy the ride.
OH – and stay through the end of the credits!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5)
Don’t wait—see it on the biggest screen you can.
