Looking for a free, kid-friendly activity this summer in the Twin Cities? We just discovered a hidden gem at Maplewood Mall that your kids will love: FREE inflatables!
That’s right – Maplewood Mall has set up what they’re calling “Inflataworld” on the main level, and it’s completely free for kids to enjoy all summer long. We stopped by recently, and it’s a fun opportunity for kids to bounce, climb, and burn off some energy.
This is the perfect option when:
✅ It’s too hot to play outside
✅ Rain ruins your park plans
✅ Air quality is poor from wildfire smoke (like this weekend!)
✅ You just want a free, air-conditioned spot for your kids to let loose
The inflatables are located in a large open area on the main level, easy to find when you’re strolling through the mall.
Important note: There wasn’t any supervision provided by mall staff, so you’ll want to keep a close eye on your kiddos while they play. I’ve also heard from some moms that there have been families that seem to use the inflatables as a free drop-off daycare for their kids. I didn’t see issues when I was there but please stay close to your kids!
Whether you’re a frugal parent like me or just looking for a fun indoor spot, Maplewood Mall’s Inflataworld is worth checking out. Pack some snacks and let the kids bounce to their hearts’ content – without spending a dime.

FREE rocket ship play area
You’ll find this on the second level near Kohl’s. There were families here playing together. It’s a nice imaginative space.
Giant Carousel
The mall has a double-decker Venetian carousel right in the middle of the main level.
Stuf’d Bear Factory
Similar to Build a Bear, this is located on the second level.

Enchanted Film Fantasy Museum
This is a newer attraction at the mall – and they have in-mall specials sometimes for admission so stop by! They have genuine costumes and props from movies. Learn more at their website here.

There’s more too like little trains kids can ride through the mall, a “city” play area for kids with tables you can eat at, and more. It’s a busy mall for sure!
