If you love craft soda, retro vibes, and a fun place to hang out, you have to check out Northern Soda Company in New Brighton, MN!
Yes, there’s a hidden gem in New Brighton, and I’ve been lucky enough to visit twice—once with my husband and once with my kids. It’s a great destination for a date, a family outing, a friends’ day out, or even an intergenerational gathering. You can come and hang out, play games, socialize, watch a game on TV. You can even rent the space for a party or other private event. There are so many possibilities here!
Northern Soda Company is a locally owned craft soda company. The soda is hand crafted in small batches and canned right there on site. They used to be in a location in Arden Hills but moved to this larger space in New Brighton a year ago. They also partner with other local businesses like QC Pizza and T-Rex Cookies which you can buy here too!
A Tour Behind the Bubbles
One of the coolest things about Northern Soda is that they offer free tours by request. Yes, free! The tours are short (under 10 minutes), but they give you a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the canning process and how their delicious sodas come to life.
Both times we went, we took the tour, and it was just as interesting the second time around. Whether you’re a big soda fan or just curious about how it’s made, this little extra perk makes the visit even more special.
We saw big pallets with cans, growlers, labels, the canning machine, the cooler, and learned some cool things.
Soda on Tap – Try a Flight!
They serve soda on tap, giving the place a nostalgic 1950s vibe!
Of course, we couldn’t leave without trying a soda flight. Northern Soda offers a variety of fun, unique flavors that you won’t find in regular stores. Some are classic, while others are more adventurous, and it’s so much fun to sample them all.
They rotate the flavors offered, so both times we visited the flavors were different. For this flight we chose these four flavors:
- Cherry Almond
- Blue Hawaiian
- Chocolate Strawberry
- Strawberry Kiwi
My son and I shared this flight and we both loved Cherry Almond the most.
Note that they do let you sample the flavors before you choose your flight flavors, so you won’t be disappointed.
If you’re not sure what to get, the flights are a great way to try a little bit of everything before committing to a full glass (or taking some cans or a growler home!).
