Paws, Purrs, and Perfect Lattes: A Visit to Wired Whisker Cat Café in Duluth
Over the holidays, we visited family and friends in Duluth, Minnesota, where I grew up. Before our visit, I heard about a new spot called the Wired Whisker Cat Café and thought it would be a fun outing for everyone. We’re all big cat lovers, so getting together in a coffee shop with snacks and a room full of cats sounded perfect.
Here in the Twin Cities, we’d visited another cozy cat cafe called The Café Meow, with locations in New Hope and Roseville, and absolutely loved it. Naturally, we wanted to experience this new cat cafe back in my hometown. What cat-tastic adventures awaited us at Duluth’s Wired Whisker?

Our Review
If you love coffee and cats, the Wired Whisker Cat Café in Duluth, Minnesota, is like stepping into a cozy little slice of heaven. There are coffee and expresso drinks, baked goods, and even some breakfast and lunch items. The café is all about good, welcoming vibes, offering everything from lattes and teas to local pastries and even beer and wine.

We ordered some treats and beverages and sat down a while before our cat hour started. The kitty cookies were irresistible!

Our Cat Room Time!
At 12:00pm it was time for us to go in the cat room!

You can book an hour in the cat room ahead of time online, which is recommended, or sign up in person if there’s space available. I booked 5 spots for us a day ahead.

We visited on a Saturday, and when I signed up online we were the only ones. But there were enough walk-ins that day that it was fully booked when it was time to go in.
We went to the back where the cat room was and went through an enclosed doorway (which protects the cats from sneaking out!).

Just beyond a glass wall, the cat room is where you can hang out with adoptable cats from local shelters. We learned that it’s not just about cuddles (though there are plenty of those); it’s about connecting with these adorable furballs and maybe even finding your next furry best friend. On the wall you can see a list of the cats – who is available for adoption, and who is recently adopted.
Sessions in the lounge last about 50 minutes, and trust me, they fly by. We were chatting, sipping, playing and snuggling, and somehow the hour was done.

The cats had plenty of toys and things to roll around in. Plus, if they needed a break, they had an adjoining room to go into that we couldn’t access. There were enough cats to engage with at any given time though – some feeling playful, some needing a nap.
After our time in the cat room, we browsed the items for sale in the cafe, and headed on our way.
Overall
From our experience, Wired Whisker isn’t just a café—it’s a vibe. They host cool events like yoga with cats and live music nights, making it a go-to spot for something a little different. Whether you’re there for the coffee, the cats, or just a dose of feel-good energy or snuggling, you’ll leave feeling content and probably with a camera roll full of cat pics.
The Wired Whisker is also deeply committed to the local community. Partnering with nearby shelters, the café gives adoptable cats a safe and loving space to interact with visitors. The staff shared stories of successful adoptions, where cats found their forever homes thanks to connections made in the cozy cat room. It’s heartwarming to see how this unique space not only delights cat lovers but also changes the lives of these furry companions, one visit at a time.
It’s a must-visit if you’re in Duluth!
Tips:
- Book your spot ahead of time, especially on weekends, because this place can get busy!
- Note that all guests must be at least 12 years old to enter the cat lounge. However, kids age 8 and up can visit during exclusive cat lounge rentals.
- You can bring food and drink into the cat room, but keep it closeby as the cats are curious!
- Listen to the instructions given when you enter and respect the cats. Don’t force a cat to play with you (sometimes they’ll walk by so let them be).
