Sever’s Holiday Lights in Shakopee is a drive-thru holiday lights event and I have a ticket giveaway!
I’ve included this event in my Holiday Lights Guide and Holiday Lights Drive-Thru Guide.
It’s also a holiday season tradition for us! We’ve been there several times and we never get tired of it. Plus – with your ticket, you can drive through it over and over again!
This year the 1.5 mile course, located at Sever’s Festival grounds in Shakopee, is packed with more than 2.5 million lights set to holiday music favorites mixed to an upbeat track. While driving through you’ll be surrounded by all kinds of dancing lights and displays, set to music. Be sure to tune to the synchronized music on your radio (info will be on a sign when you arrive).
There are also concessions where you can get goodies like hot cider and caramel corn (depending on availability).
And be sure to park in the observation lot after the drive-thru to watch the full program.

Tickets are available online for specific timeslots.
Weekday pricing is cheaper (non-peak weeks) – it’s $30 per car up to 7 people, or $45 for 8 people or more.

Our Experiences
This is a review of our visits in 2023, 2020 and 2021.
We got our ticket online in advance for the 5:00 – 6:30pm timeslot. We arrived right at 5:00pm, and there was a short line ahead of us, but it moved continuously.
There was a winding drive through cornstalks, which still had some characters and “bells” your car sets off from their Stories, Riddles & Rhymes event this past summer.
There were also a couple of food trucks when we went. There was one with cheese curds and chicken fritters, and another with mini donuts and popcorn. We wanted it all but just got the mini donuts and popcorn which were yummy (and we ate them too fast to take a picture!).
When we got in, maybe 10 minutes after we first arrived, the lights were bright and beautiful!
The lights were synchronized to music you could hear on the radio at 87.9 FM.
It was not huge in area but there was plenty to see and the music was fun and funky. My kids said they liked it best of all the light drive-thrus. I think because they had songs like “Into the Unknown” from Frozen 2 and other popular favorites that my 12-year-old and 10-year-old knew!
The lights went in different patterns and danced with the music.
There were so many fun shapes and designs.
The whole drive took about 10-15 minutes. Thankfully people weren’t going really fast so we could really take it in.

Good holiday lights display.

My favorite thing about the season is remembering that Jesus was born for the purpose of dying on the cross for sin. Everything else is a bonus: family, friends, food, gifts, decorations. Jesus called himself the light of the world.

Sadly the raffle isn’t working on my phone. Did enjoy the lights when we went in a $10 Tuesday. It took about an hour to drive through. I wish people turned headlights off driving through. I would have been upset to lay more than $10 for it. Bentleyville is better with more variety and more free food for just $10 to park. Still, it was fun.

Oh wow, this looks beautiful! We’ll definitely have to check this out next year! I’ve been trying to find some last-minute Christmas activities for my kids while waiting for our cabinet painters to finish up and this would have been perfect! I’ve got it on my list for next year!
