Wow. If you visit Lanesboro, Minnesota, and I hope you do, be sure to stay at The Cottage House Inn!
Our family stayed here during a visit to the area, which was particularly to go to Big Springs Farm (which is a must-see in the fall).
The Cottage House Inn had everything we needed and was perfect for our quiet, relaxing getaway.

Lanesboro’s historic charm, paired with the beautiful backdrop of the Root River and bluffs (you can see them right by the hotel!), makes for the most peaceful setting.
Many people come here to bike along the 60-mile Root River Trail, which was built in the 1990s and attracts families, groups and couples. We didn’t have time to bike during this visit (I wish we did!) but we saw many bikers here. Others like us come to shop, dine, and see area attractions, like the Commonweal Theatre. The Cottage House Inn is conveniently located right in the midst of these downtown, and it has a long porch that looks out onto the main street.

The Inn has 15 rooms; some in the main building, and some in an addition that are more contemporary and with more features. They also have 2 suites.
Our room was room #3 in the main building, and was simple but clean and comfortable. We had 2 queen beds, a bathroom, and basic furnishings. And the unique thing about our room was there was no TV or phone, but we didn’t mind!

They did have a charger for multiple electronic devices, and our own devices were plenty to connect us with the world from our room.

The bathroom had a large sink and was plenty stocked with everything we needed.

Exploring the Inn, we found many rooms to relax in. The lobby and adjoining rooms had books and magazines, games, and brochures. There was a dining room with coffee and tea, and another room with a full-size refrigerator and other kitchen items that guests could use. We stored some food in the fridge which had plenty of space.

I just loved the porch! It’s perfect for sipping your morning coffee or evening tea.

In the evening, you can also just walk over to Sylvan Brewing for a drink or event. They also have food trucks!

We also stopped by for some drinks and snacks. It’s so inviting and they have great beer selections – plus flights!

For breakfast there are plenty of nearby options – we had delicious food at the Lanesboro Pastry Shoppe which was just across the street.

The Cottage House Inn is the perfect place to stay while in Lanesboro.
