We visited the Quad Cities recently and had a wonderful stay at the newer Cambria Hotel – Quad Cities!
The Quad Cities is made up of 5+ cities along the Iowa and Illinois border, and are located about 6 hours from the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. We visited the area for the first time in October 2023, and discovered there is so much to see and do there. It’s definitely a midwest destination to explore with your kids, as a couple, with friends or even solo.
And of course there are numerous hotels, but we stayed at one just outside all the busyness, in Bettendorf, Iowa. It’s the Cambria Hotel, and it’s located just off of I-80, which runs along the north side of the Quad Cities area.
(This stay is part of a hosted visit to the Quad Cities. All opinions are 100% mine.)
Though the Cambria Hotel is located in a newer, less populated area, there are many things to do within walking distance. We didn’t realize how much there was until we got here!
The biggest attraction near the hotel is the TBK Bank Sports Complex which is a sports complex and entertainment center (check the hotel’s front desk for discounts!). There are also businesses and restaurants right by the hotel, including Flip’s Pancake House, Twin Span Brewing, Cookies & Dreams, and numerous others. We enjoyed breakfast at Flip’s, and cookies at Cookies & Dreams, plus we stopped at the Kwik Star a few times. There’s pretty much everything that you need near the hotel.
The impression I got when entering the hotel was “Wow, this is elegant! This looks fancier than it costs!” It really does look beautiful. There is stylish decor and modern lighting all over the lobby. There’s a restaurant where you can get meals all day plus there’s a bar. Even the elevators and hallways look upscale.
Our Room
Our room was on the top level facing the TBK Sports Complex. The room was HUGE – with plenty of space for all our things and having a dance party if we wanted to (just kidding). And we had a nice view of the complex and area.
There is cool artwork on the walls, and the beds are nice and comfy.
The bathrooms are spa-inspired too with luxe PURE bath products and farmhouse doors.
One thing that was really helpful during our stay was the blackout curtain. It was so dark in our room even after the sun rose – I got up early to do a workout but it felt like nighttime! My family stayed asleep even with all my bustling around thanks to the darkness. It’s very helpful for a good night’s sleep here.
Amenities
The Cambria Hotel – Quad Cities has all the amenities you could ask for. The pool area is nice (and yes, the water is warm). Though I wanted to use the pool, we didn’t have time as we were so busy during our visit, but I do recommend making time for it if you can.
The fitness center is HUGE! It had multiple cardio machines (ellipticals, treadmills), plus weights, a weights machine and accessories. I enjoyed watching TV as I exercised.
I did a workout twice here -once on each day we were here. The first time I had the place to myself, but the second time there were a few other people. But it’s so big that I had plenty I could still do.
Right outside the pool and fitness center is a lovely patio with pretty lights at night.
The Cambria Hotel – Quad Cities has a variety of other amenities and features such as:
- Free Wi-fi
- Business Center
- Banquet Rooms
- Laundry
- 100% Smoke Free
- Shuttle service
- Grab and Go Market
The hotel rates are very affordable for all that you get. The rates are around $100 – 130 a night (be sure to join the Choice Hotels rewards program to save on rates).
The only thing I wish they would change is to offer free breakfast. There is breakfast available at the onsite restaurant, but it was too expensive for us ($13.00 for eggs, meat, toast or pancake and hashbrowns, for example). Instead, we went offsite for breakfast. Thankfully there are plenty of options nearby and in the Quad Cities.
Otherwise, it’s great value for all you get. And the hotel has excellent reviews online.
What would I give this hotel? Probably 4.5 out of 5 stars.
