Kids eat FREE on Sundays at Kona Grill on Sundays 2pm to close!
I love this! And it’s a new deal that just started.
We don’t eat out at elegant restaurants much, but when we do we go to places where kids can eat free, or there are other deals like happy hour specials. And Kona Grill has both of these and more!
We were invited to try it out and honestly, we were very impressed. We had never eaten before at Kona Grill but there were so many things we loved about it that I put together this list: “5 Things We Love About Kona Grill!”
5 THINGS WE LOVE ABOUT KONA GRILL
1. The food is amazing!
Whether you love seafood and sushi or burgers or chicken – they have so many tasty dishes. We tried several from Chicken Satay skewers to Miso-Sake Chilean Sea Bass (my favorite!) and everything satisfied.
The Chicken Satay skewers have the best peanut sauce dip and cabbage slaw, and the Ribeye Meatballs with shallot, shiitake, macadamia nuts, chili glaze and creamy peppercorn sauce over whipped potatoes were my fiance’s favorite.
The sushi menu is abundant, and we had a few (clockwise from top left):
- Tuna Tartare (from the Starter menu), with ahi tuna, soy-mustard emulsion, avocado, jalapeno, chili oil and fried wonton crisps
- Peppered Tuna Tataki – lobster & citrus aoili, avocado, sesame-soy chili sauce, green onion
- Surf & Turf which has various options, but we chose the Wagyu steak, lobster sushi roll, and sauteed green beans
- Sunset roll, with nori, shrimp tempura, lemon, avocado, yellowtail, mango, togarashi, cucumber salsa, spicy mayo and eel sauce (how about that for flavor)
And here it is, my favorite menu item. The Miso-Sake Chilean Sea Bass, served over baby bok choy.
The fish is so delicate and flavorful, I couldn’t get enough of it! Unfortunately it’s a more expensive menu item than most, but if you get it, it is really a dish to savor.
2. Kids eat FREE on Sundays from 2pm to close!
Sunday nights are Family Nights at Kona Grill! This is new. Get up to 2 free kids meals per adult entree. Our kids loved their bento box meals, especially the cute panda bear oranges!
And I loved that the kids meals were PLENTIFUL! Often kids meals are barely enough for a toddler, but these had 2 sides and were perfect for even my growing 12 year old!
And they have various kids meal options- sushi, hamburgers, chicken strips, and even pizza!
Note: To help you plan, note that adult entree options range from $12 (California Roll) to $20 (Sushi & Salad) to $38 (Sea Bass) to $46 (Surf & Turf). Most adult meals are in the $12 – 28 range.
3. Happy Hour Specials!
They are a great affordable way to feast with options from $3.00 to $9.00. There’s Chicken & Shrimp Lettuce Wraps, Spicy Tuna Roll, Sliders and more. I recommend the Ribeye Meatballs! (See above)
Plus you can watch the game! It’s fun for date night, game day and girlfriends outings, etc. Happy Hour is at times every day except Sundays.
4. Fun ambiance!
Each restaurant is unique but at Ridgedale there’s a cool water bubble “fountain” and a fish tank! Our kids loved these.
5. Excellent service!
Our server Jeffrey was super nice and attentive, and knew the menu so well. He had great suggestions for us.
All the staff including the cooks were friendly and happy to serve!
Right now they have a great deal too. Buy a $100 gift card and get a $25 gift card free! OR buy a $50 gift card and get a $10 gift card free!
In Minnesota they have locations in Minnetonka (Ridgedale Mall) and Eden Prairie.
Check them out for family day (get your free kids meals!) or plan a date night or happy hour with friends!
