This summer I posted about several chalk art festivals in Minnesota including Maple Grove, New Brighton and Sauk Centre. They are SUPER fun and impressive, with plenty of photo opportunities!
Now this fall there is a NEW chalk art festival in Monticello, and it’s called “Let’s Chalk!” It’s a 2-day festival with food, entertainment and family fun. There will be chalk art including 3D art from both professionals and amateurs from all over the world.
When is it?
It’s on Saturday, October 22nd and Sunday, October 23rd from 10:00am – 5:00pm.
Where is it?
Downtown Monticello – Walnut and 3rd Street
What?
Inspired by murals, sculptures and community gathering spaces, the city of Monticello invited a famous artists, Shawn McCann, to organize this fall festival to turn Monticello downtown roads into canvasses of art.
Everyone will be able to watch the chalk art come to life, enjoy entertainment, enjoy food and beverages, and kids will be able to draw their own chalk art!

Go to the Let’s Chalk event website for more info.
Who is Shawn McCann?
Shawn McCann is the co-founder of Chalkfest at Arbor Lakes, a festival drawing an annual attendance of 40,000 people, and has founded 6 other street art festivals in the Midwest. He’s been part of festivals around the world and is bringing together more than a dozen fellow artists for the Let’s Chalk event. Included in the line-up is Nate Baranowski, one of the top 3D artists in the world. In addition to offering a chance for the public to watch these incredible professionals create in their City, Let’s Chalk will also give local amateurs the opportunity to work alongside and learn from those with more experience in the art form.
Our family went to Chalkfest at Arbor Lakes this summer – check out some of the art we saw! It will be similar (not exact) at this Chalk event in Monticello.
