Emery Acres is a new U-Pick flower farm in Rosemount. It just opened up in June and we were invited by the owners to check it out, so my kids and I went and picked our own beautiful bouquet!
It’s located at 15490 Emery Avenue E in the beautiful countryside of Rosemount.
Emery Acres was founded and is operated by Connie Merriman and her daughter Alicia Merriman. It’s located where Connie and her husband have lived since 1996.
Connie and her daughter decided to turn their land into a business, started planting earlier this year and then they celebrated their grand opening on June 18th!
We met both of these super nice women, and they showed us around and helped us get started.
The Flower Shack
The first stop is the flower shack where you can find an assortment of vases and pitchers to use for your flowers.
They have regular size pitchers and kid-size pitchers so all ages can pick. It’s $25 to fill a regular pitcher and $15 for a kid-size.
The pitcher is $20 extra to take home if you want but you can reuse it whenever you go back!
We picked a regular size pitcher to fill up today, and take home.
Children’s Play Area and Scavenger Hunt
There is a cute children’s play area shortly after you enter. It has some nature and gardening toys for kids to use. There are places for grown-ups to sit at nearby too.
There is also a Scavenger Hunt for kids to do! Be sure to ask for this handout, and when kids find all the items on the list, they can come back to the flower shack for a piece of candy.
Flowers!
There are over 100 varieties of flowers, from Baby’s Breath to Sunflowers to Zinnias!
You are given shears to use to cut the flowers, and instructed only on the zinnias. The zinnias need to be “firm” at the top before they can be cut so they owners will show you this. Otherwise, it’s simple – just pick the flowers you want and cut them!
TIP: Be sure to cut the flower far down enough so it will be LONG! It’s easy to cut them too short so err on the side of too long and just trim them down.
We walked around for a little bit – it was a HOT day, but the flowers were beautiful! We picked a variety of flowers and colors. It was a fun outing for my kids and me.
When you’re done you bring the bouquet back to the flower shack and check out.
A bouquet like this is $25. You can fit about 20-25 stems in the regular size pitcher like we had.
If you don’t want to buy the pitcher/vase itself then they wrap up the flowers for you.

Final Thoughts?
We thought Emery Acres was a great place to visit with kids! But I can see how it’s great for couples, girls’ day out, and even as a Mother’s Day or gift for your sweetheart (or yourself!).
It’s not huge – I was expecting possibly acres and acres. But it’s in a generally easily walkable area. But they do plan to expand the gardens further so there will be more and more to pick from!
And they’re open in the summer until about mid-September.
I loved the idea of this place and I love that it’s a family business.
How often do you get to pick your own flowers, and from so many varieties?
