Back to the 50’s Car Show. June 17 – 19. MN State Fairgrounds. Over 11,000 cars! The 43rd Annual Back to the 50’s Car Show will feature over 10,000 street rods and custom cars along with commercial vendors, swappers, crafters, entertainment and much more. Adults $10. Kids 12 and under FREE.

Como Zoo. Always free (though donations are welcome). This weekend visit the new “Blooming Butterflies,” opening June 17th. See hundreds of butterflies from Africa, Asia, North, Central and South America flying freely in an indoor, temporary exhibit among tropical plants in a lush garden environment. This free, seasonal butterfly exhibit is a total immersion experience.
Cottage Grove Strawberry Festival. June 16 – 21. The Cottage Grove Strawberry Fest is a four-day, family focused event that offers something for everyone. An estimated 15,000 to 20,000 people will enjoy wonderful food, fantastic bands, a carnival and much, much more! FREE>
Crayola Experience – This Sunday, June 19, all dads can receive free admission to the Minnesota’s newest family destination, the Crayola Experience, situated on the 3rd Floor, in the Southeast concourse of Mall of America. Father’s Day Tractor Show. This Saturday and Sunday, Pahl’s Market will have tractors covering over 75 years of Pahl family farming on display in their parking lot. Stop by and check out the modern equipment and vintage tractors that are still being used today.
GermanFest. Historic Schmidt Brewery, St. Paul. Both Saturday and Sunday. German musicians, dancers and vendors. This family-friendly event will not be similar to the stereotypical “Oktoberfest” festival. Instead it will be focused on celebrating German culture through food, music, dance, art, education, and other activities. FREE.
Midtown Global Market. Friday, June 17th from 5:00 – 8:0pm. Join Midtown Global Market for an evening of music with the “New Distractions” and a Father’s Day themed craft for the kids and a scavenger hunt for the kiddies! FREE.

Minnesota Parent’s Kid Fest. At this 3rd annual FREE event, families can enjoy entertainment, live music, activities, face painting and more at the Lake Harriet Bandshell on Saturday from 10 -1. FREE.
Minnesota Zoo. Bring your dad to the Zoo on Sunday, June 19 for free admission for all dads plus other discounts.
Oliver H. Kelley Farm – Dads get in free Saturday (10-5) and Sunday (12-5) when accompanied by a child. Check out my review with photos here. This Father’s Day join the Kelley Farm staff as they work on typical 19th-century “fancy chores,” such as building feed boxes, repairing equipment and fences, and caring for the livestock. Guests can also bake treats in the farm house and help water and weed in the garden.
Science Museum of Minnesota. On Sunday, Dads enjoy free admission with any paid admission.
Space Scooter Coast to Coast Challenge. June 17 – 18. Mall of America. Encouraging kids to embark on the #SpaceScooterMovement and tracking the total combined miles at each event, the tour will introduce America to a brand new way of “scooting.” At this event, kids will be able to experience a Space Scooter for themselves as they’ll ride on a custom made track, complete with a mix of terrain and US landmarks.
Stone Arch Bridge Festival – Take dad to the Minneapolis Riverfront this weekend! On Saturday and Sunday enjoy 2 days of art and music from 250 artists on three performance stages, plus activities, a family art park and a Father’s Day car show. FREE admission.

Three Rivers Park District. The Three Rivers Park District is offering a FREE Family Fun Day event at Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park from 1:00 – 3:00pm on Father’s Day!
