There are many fun places to visit in the Twin Cities this Mother’s Day weekend where moms and grandmas get in FREE! Plus, because it’s Minnesota Museums month, many museums are offering deals. Here are some I could find! (Check back for updates!)
American Swedish Institute. Moms and grandmas receive FREE museum admission on Mother’s Day!
The Bakken Museum. Though not Mother’s Day specific, admission is always FREE on the second Saturday of the month. On Saturday, May 9th come and explore our exhibits free of charge! D’Amico & Sons – Moms Eat Free when dining with their kids this Sunday, May 10th!
Fishing Opener Weekend – Moms can fish free without a license this fishing opener weekend both Saturday and Sunday.
Great Clips IMAX. Mom’s Free with one paid admission from Saturday, May 9 – Sunday, May 10. Check online for film and showtimes. Drop by the theatre lobby from 10 AM – 12 PM and make your mom a Mother’s day card! *No further discounts or promotions. Discounted tickets available at theatre box office only.
Landmark Center – Saint Paul Civic Symphony Annual Mother’s Day Concert
Musser Cortile; 1:00 pm; Free. Join the Saint Paul Civic Symphony for their Annual Mother’s Day Concert. Featuring the music of Surinach, Foss and Tchaikovsky, this yearly tradition fills up quickly, so plan to arrive early to get your seats! For more information visit http://spcsmusic.org/.
Lindor Chocolate at the Mall of America. Free truffles, deals & a virtual reality experience.
Midtown Global Market. Celebrate Mother’s Day this Family Friday with live entertainment and a kids’ craft project! Friday from 5:00 – 8:00pm. (Note: Free parking for Midtown Global Market shoppers at Midtown Exchange Parking ramp for up to 2 hours with validation with any purchase.)
Minnesota Children’s Museum – All moms (and grandmothers!) get FREE Museum admission. Check out my review with photos here.
Minnesota History Center. May is Museums Month in Minnesota. To celebrate, the History Center will be offering free admission all day on Sunday, May 10th. Guests can explore hands-on exhibits including “Then Now Wow,” “Grainland,” “Open House,” “Weather Permitting,” “Minnesota’s Greatest Generation” and “We Are Hmong Minnesota.” Families can also shop in the gift store and have lunch in the History Center Café.
Minneapolis Institute of Arts. Sunday, May 10th is this month’s Family Day at the MIA from 11:00 – 5:00. The theme is May Flowers. The entire event is free!
Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. National Public Gardens Day – Friday, May 8th, 8:00 – 6:00. Free gate admission all day. Special family activities, giveaways and other events are planned.
Minnesota Zoo – Moms get in free both Saturday and Sunday. Plus, special offers at the gift store, Great Clips IMAX Theater, and Call of the Wild restaurant for moms both days. May 11-12.
Oliver H. Kelley Farm – Moms get in free Saturday (10-5) and Sunday (12-5) when accompanied by a child. Check out my review with photos here. Explore the Kelley Farm as it springs to life on Mother’s Day Weekend. Help plant seeds in the garden, harvest the first greens and meet the new baby animals as they try out their young legs. Parents, children and grandparents are encouraged to enjoy this event together. (Fees $6-9)
Three Rivers Park District. The Three Rivers Park District is offering various fun events for moms. For example:
- Brunch at the Lowry Nature Center (Sunday – NOT free except for kids 2 and under)
- Animal Mothers at the Richardson Nature Center (Sunday 1-4, FREE)
- Family Fishing on the Opener at Bryant Lake Regional Park: Learn about types of fish, preparing equipment, bait, and handling the fish once they’re caught. Equipment and fishing license provided for class only. Children 17 years and younger must be accompanied by a registered adult. Reservations required. (Cost)
Twin Cities Premium Outlets – Indulge, Fashion + Fun takes place on Saturday, May 9, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., and provides moms with a much-needed opportunity to treat themselves to a day out and celebrate motherhood through a fun, fashionable shopping experience. FREE and open to all women!
