Gigi’s Cupcakes, America’s largest cupcake franchise, is introducing gluten-free versions of its award-winning gourmet cupcakes, and I was invited to try them out!
In the Twin Cities, Gigi’s Cupcakes is located at 7722 Olson Memorial Highway in Golden Valley. I stopped by there with my family to try out some cupcakes – both regular and gluten-free varieties.
Every day Gigi’s Cupcakes offers a dozen varieties of cupcakes, plus 3 gluten-free varieties, so you can have gluten-free any day!
When we visited we found all kinds of yummy choices including Wedding Cake, Strawberry Shortcake, White Midnight Magic Chocolate Chip, and more. (Their weekly menu can be viewed here.)
You can also find mini cupcakes, which can be purchased in 4-packs.
The 3 gluten-free varieties offered when we went were Wedding Cake, Strawberry Shortcake & Peanut Butter Cup (there are many others during the week including Birthday Surprise and Miss Princess).
We picked out six cupcakes which they nicely packaged in a box (though they didn’t stay in there for long).
Mmmm…CUPCAKES
We got (clockwise from the top right) Wedding Cake, Scarlett’s Red Velvet, Chocolate Salted Caramel, gluten-free Wedding Cake, gluten-free Strawberry Shortcake, & White Midnight Magic Chocolate Chip.
Our kids enjoyed the Wedding Cake, Red Velvet and White Midnight Magic Chocolate Chip Cupcakes (which we helped them with). My husband and I tried a little of each, including the gluten-free varieties.
I have to say we both LOVED the gluten-free varieties as much as the other cupcakes. The taste really wasn’t different. There seemed to be less frosting on the gluten-free varieties, but otherwise they were very similar, especially since we had both the regular Wedding Cake cupcake and the gluten-free Wedding Cake cupcake, so I could compare them together.
And in case cupcakes weren’t enough, Gigi’s Cupcakes offers an assortment of gourmet desserts, including stuffed cookies, pies, cheesecakes, mini cupcakes and custom cakes, including wedding cakes. And all cupcakes, including gluten-free ones, are freshly baked and decorated daily on-site!
One thing to note, though, for those with gluten allergies or Celiac Disease. They say, “Gigi’s Cupcakes’ new gluten-free menu only includes cupcakes baked without gluten; however, gluten-free cupcakes are prepared fresh in the same kitchen as menu items containing gluten, allowing for potential cross-contamination. Because the equipment comes in contact with products containing gluten, Gigi’s Cupcakes’ menu items cannot be certified as gluten-free products. It is not recommended for guests with severe gluten allergies or Celiac Disease.”
Stop by Gigi’s Cupcakes for a Valentine’s Day treat or gift ideas, and oh – this is so neat – Gigi’s Cupcakes will be on “Undercover Boss” on Friday, February 13th! It’s at 7:00pm on CBS!

Their cupcakes look so good! They have a couple shops in the Denver area. We’d drive the distance just to check them out. 🙂
