There’s a lot of fun to be found in the Twin Cities this New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Here are some activities I found:
New Year’s Eve – Wednesday, December 31st
Noon Years Eve at Como Zoo. St. Paul. On December 31 and January 1 from 10am – 1pm the Visitor Center at Como Park Zoo and Conservatory will be filled with family-friendly entertainment for a special Noon Year’s Party. Come for the games, dancing and music from the DJs of the Twin Cities Road Crew. There will be noise-maker making, zookeeper talks, giveaways, contests, a scavenger hunt and a countdown to NOON when hundreds of beach balls will be dropped from the ceiling. FREE (though donations welcome).
Kids New Years Eve Celebration. Midtown Global Market, Minneapolis. 10:30am. Live music by the Roe Family singers, snacks & more. FREE.
New Year’s Eve Party. Maplewood Library. 1:00 – 4:00pm. Games, music and crafts and we will ring in the new year at 4:00 p.m. FREE.
New Year’s Eve on Ice. Roseville. 2:30pm. Ring in the New Year on Ice! Bring your family and meet your friends at the Roseville Skating Center. Join us at the Midwest’s largest skating party on Wednesday, December 31. The fun begins at 2:30 and goes until 10:00 p.m. Skate indoors in the arena or outdoors on the 110,000 square foot OVAL. Warm up in the banquet area, try the bounce castle and get your face painted. Take a chance to win great door prizes. Enjoy concessions and the company of other skaters while toasting your toes at the bonfire. Admission: $5.50.
Sparkle-rama at the Minnesota Children’s Museum. St. Paul. 5:00 – 9:00pm. Dress up your little superstars in their favorite getup and rock out at the Museum New Year’s Eve Party! Join us for Sparkle-rama, the best kid-friendly party in town. Admission: $10 per member and $14 per non-member.
Family New Year’s Eve Party. Maplewood Nature Center. 6:00 – 8:00pm. Bring in the New Year with fun indoor and outdoor activities, treats, crafts, music, and games including a glow in the dark scavenger hunt. We’ll provide hotdogs and a campfire. You provide the laughter and the New Year’s stories! $15 per family.
Moonlight Circus at Nickelodeon Universe at the Mall of America. 6:00pm – midnight. Join us under the big top for a family New Year’s Eve celebration complete with Family Countdown, live entertainment, games, rides and more! FREE admission (purchase points/wristbands for rides).
Outdoor Center New Year’s Eve Family Fun. Eden Prairie. 7:00pm. All ages are invited to ring in the New Year with crafts, games, snowshoe hikes, a bonfire and more. $15 per person. See website for details.
Pinstripes in Edina will be hosting the annual New Year’s Eve bash for guests of all ages! The celebration will feature two balloon drops, at 8pm and midnight, a complimentary champagne toast, party favors and live music by Mark & Kenni.
New Year’s Day – Thursday, January 1st
