(Thanks to Snikiddy Snacks with providing my family with tasty and better-for-you snacks for this fun review!)
It’s that time of year again, when goodies abound and it’s easy to indulge for occasions like Christmas parties, school and church programs, concerts, and just everyday shopping outings (there’s always a good excuse, right?).
My kids definitely pick up on it, too, and get excited about every opportunity to make Christmas cookies or as we did today, a Gingerbread house!
However, I soooo don’t want our family packing on the pounds all season long, so I’m always looking for better-for-you snacking alternatives, during this time of year and all year long!
This is why I was happy to receive a box of Snikiddy snacks in the mail to try with my family. My kids were super excited to open it up and find all kinds of yummy tasting snacks inside (and I was happy to find the snacks are actually good for them, too!)
Snikiddy is a line of snacks made from simple, wholesome, real-food ingredients. They include Cheese Puffs, Baked Fries, and Eat Your Vegetables, and are non-GMO, certified gluten and wheat free. They were created by a mom and daughter who always emphasized eating well in their family, and who wanted to help families looking for healthier foods that also satisfy their cravings.
Well, I think our family’s cravings were satisfied because after we opened up the box, the snacks were eaten FAST!
My kids enjoyed the Baked Grilled Cheese Puffs and Baked Mac n’Cheese Puffs first. Then they ate up the Baked Cheddar Cheese Fries. I tasted them all and definitely consider them very kid-friendly. They weren’t too cheesy or spicy – they were flavorful but mild enough to please the pickiest eaters (including my daughter!).
The Baked Fries actually come in 6 flavors: Cheddar Cheese, Sea Salt, Barbecue, Original Seasoning, Bold Buffalo (which we also tried – they are super good but definitely have a bite!), and Hot & Spicy.
I really enjoyed the “Eat Your Vegetables” which are a combination of veggies and chips. They’re actually made with 8 different types of vegetables, and come in five flavors: Sea Salt & Lime, Sea Salt, Sour Cream & Onion, Jalapeno Ranch, and Italian Herb & Olive Oil.
I got to try the Sea Salt & Lime and Jalapeno Ranch flavors. You could definitely taste a hint of lime in the Sea Salt & Lime variety, and I was pleasantly surprised with how good lime tastes in chips.
And the Jalapeno Ranch flavor sounded like it might be too spicy for me (I’m not a big fan of spicy), but I really liked them – the Ranch flavor “cooled” the heat of the Jalapeno flavor enough that I ate the whole bag in 2 days (with a cool beverage as well, I might add)!
The only problem with doing this review is that my kids ate the puffs and baked fries so fast that they were right away asking for more!
Thankfully they’re available at stores like Toys R Us, Babies R Us, Byerly’s, Lunds, and Whole Foods Market. They’re also available online.
I just saw them at my local Toys R Us and they were $2.99 a bag. But you can find coupons and more info on their website here: www.snikiddy.com/.
Also check out their social media pages including Facebook. Happy healthy snacking!
