I was recently invited to shop at Style Encore in Eagan, a new women’s resale shop where you can buy and sell clothing and accessories. It just opened and I got to preview it before their grand opening celebration.
This past week I came back to do some shopping and share my experience!
I took Thor, my 3-year-old, and asked him to help pick out some “pretty clothes for mommy.” As I browsed, without hesitation he searched through the many quality, brand-name clothes and made many suggestions to me.
“This looks pretty, mommy!” There were so many blouses, dresses, pants and accessories for all occasions.
“How about these jeans, mommy?” He was so cute pulling around a cart for me (that I very quickly filled up with clothes and shoes I HAD to try on).
After spending a long time going through tops, pants, shoes, purses, workout clothes, dresses, skirts, and accessories, it was on to the dressing room! I found a nice variety of clothes for both work and leisure.
Now, often when I’m shopping for clothes, I’ll end up putting most of the items back, but this time, I ended up buying 2/3 of the clothes I tried on!
I was sooo excited to find the perfect pair of Ralph Lauren skinny jeans ($24.00) – I was psyched that they were actually comfortable AND flattering, especially since I haven’t worn a pair of skinny jeans since my pre-pregnancy days!
I also bought a cute Talbots blouse ($9.00), a brand new Athleta yoga tank top ($18.00 – the original tag said $32.00), and some like-new Asics workout shoes ($22.00) – exactly the kind I have been looking for!
I also bought a Jennifer Lopez blouse ($10.00), a Dress Barn blouse ($10.00), an Ann Taylor tank top ($10.00), a large Liz Claiborne purse ($24.00), Ecco flats ($22.00) and a brand new Forever 21 blue scarf ($5.00 – original tag said $8.80).
Overall – all of these items, if purchased new, would have totaled several hundred dollars! Instead I got them all for a fraction of that. The best part was that I made some cash selling my clothes at my previous visit and I used that toward my purchase.
The staff were super helpful, too. They helped me get a dressing room, helped me find everything I needed, and even gave Thor some fruit snacks for being such a good helper!
If you have gently used, brand name clothes just sitting in your closet, do what I did and see how much cash you can get for them, and then use it to shop for new, quality clothes and accessories at Style Encore!
