Kids love to snack, and my kids do it all day long!
As a mom of 2 picky eater young kids, I am always on the lookout for better ways to get my kids to eat healthfully. But there are way too many snacks out there that mainly offer empty calories and junk, like crackers and processed lunch bag snacks.
I try to make and offer healthful, frugal and homemade snacks as much as possible, but as a busy mom this isn’t always easy.
This is why I was very happy to hear about Bitsy’s Brainfood, “the world’s first smart snack for kids.” Created by two young moms, this tasty snack provides treats that are good for kids’ bodies, minds and imaginations.
Bitsy’s Brainfood Snacks are available in 4 flavor combinations:
- Zucchini Gingerbread Carrot
- Orange Chocolate Beet
- Lemon Broccoli
- Sweet Potato Oatmeal Raisin
The snacks come in a kid-sized, 2-serving box that contains fun suggestions for making snack time learning time. The snacks are fun letter shaped cookies that my kids enjoyed playing with, and each box comes with a collectible sticker of a Bitsy’s wacky Superfood Alphabet character.
We were provided with 4 boxes to review – one of each flavor – and my kids rushed right over when we opened all of them to try. The packaging is very kid-friendly and fun, and the boxes are a good on-the-go size for snacking.
Our 5-year-old Heidi liked the Orange Chocolate Beet flavor best, and our 3-year-old Thor ate most of the Zucchini Gingerbread Carrot snacks himself. I liked the Sweet Potato Oatmeal Raisin best, which surprised me because oatmeal raisin isn’t usually my favorite flavor, but I couldn’t stop snacking on them!
The vegetables in all of the different varieties were hard to detect behind the sweet and fruity flavors. For example, the lemon broccoli tasted mostly like lemon.

I love the Bitsy’s Brainfood website. There are lots of interactive features for both parents and kids, and FREE fun and educational printables.
Bitsy’s Brainfood snacks are recommended for ages 12 months and up, and can be ordered for $2.39-$2.50 per box on sites like Amazon, Fresh Direct, and Vine. I liked these snacks enough that I would order them for myself, not just my kids! For a full list visit their information page here.
