Walker Art Center – FREE Gallery Admission until September 21st
Due to the Barnes building being under construction, plus all the accompanying noise and temporary closing of several galleries, the Walker Art Center is offering FREE gallery admission until September 21st. You can still check out several galleries: “Abraham Cruzvillegas: The Autoconstruccion Suites,” “Painter Painter” and the recently opened “Fritz Haeg: At Home in the City.”
SUNDAY, AUGUST 18
Minnesota Children’s Museum – Free admission
Every third Sunday of the month, Museum admission is free all day, from 9:00am – 5:00pm. Sunday, August 18 is the last day to see the Run! Jump! Fly! exhibit for free (it ends September 8). See pictures and more information in my recent review!
MONDAY, AUGUST 19
Cafesjian’s Carousel at Como Zoo – Free rides
The famous Cafesjian’s Carousel at Como Zoo offers free rides from 11:00am – 4:00pm on select dates in the summer including Monday, August 19. After Monday, the next (& last) free ride day for the season is September 16.
TUESDAY, AUGUST 20
Free Curious George Party at the Bookcase in Wayzata
At 10:00am, come to the Bookcase in Wayzata for a free Curious George party! Get out your yellow suits and head over to The Bookcase for a party celebrating our favorite monkey! There will be activities, storytime, and even some of the Curious George cartoons playing.
Minnesota History Center – 9 Nights of Music
Free Minnesota History Center admission 5:00-8:00pm and free outdoor music 5:30 – 9:30pm! Tonight, Orkestar Bez Ime (Balkan Party Music).

Bellyrama 2013 – Free outdoor yoga festival
Bellyrama is a one-hour, FREE yoga class held at Minneapolis’ Lake Harriet Bandshell, accompanied by live music — this year by the talented Nicholas David of “The Voice” fame. This 4th Annual outdoor yoga festival was created with pregnant mamas in mind, but it is for ALL, whether you’re pregnant, hoping to be pregnant one day, or are already a mama. You don’t have to be pregnant to come! Bellyrama is for fathers, sisters, grandmothers, and aunties. Bring ‘em all! Just bring your own mat, water and sunscreen.There will be vendors, plus henna artists, face painting, and more! 9:00-11:00am.
